Overview

In 2015 Vue International capitalised on a strong year for film, which included hugely popular blockbusters such asSPECTREJurassic World and Minions

The performance in the final quarter of the year, when EBITDA rose 89%, was particularly strong – given the period doesn’t account for Star Wars – which was released after the November year end. This performance was driven by growth across all key metrics and strong ticket mix.

In 2015 Vue International continued to enhance its international estate opening two further sites in Poland and launching the first IMAX screen in Denmark - which proved particularly successful with the cinema enjoying a position in the top six grossing IMAX locations worldwide.  Alongside this the company launched its first UK based IMAX screens (Cheshire Oaks and Leeds). A new state-of-the-art multiplex at Farnborough in the UK opened, the first ever eSports arena launched at Vue Fulham and alongside this seating at Vue Cambridge was replaced with new luxury recliner chairs.

Tim Richards, Vue International Founder and CEO commented:

“2015 was a record breaking year and we continue to make excellent progress with our strategy of delivering an industry leading experience while focussing on EBITDA. Our performance in the final quarter of the year where EBITDA was up 89% was particularly pleasing when you consider it doesn’t include Star Wars, which was released after our November year. Neither do these results include our most recent acquisition – Vue Netherlands.

“We capitalised on a strong year for film, which included popular blockbusters and strong local content and continue to offer over 80 million customers across Europe a differentiated and enhanced cinematic experience.

“We are committed to ongoing growth of the bottom line, not chasing the top-line.  Outlook remains extremely positive over the coming years including the next instalments of the Star Wars and Avatar franchises where we are well placed to capitalise on a strong slate across the Group.”

Ends.
