Alan McNair, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Vue International has been named CineEurope’s 2014 International Exhibitor of the Year.
McNair received the award in Barcelona, at the recent CineWorld Awards Ceremony, and was praised for standard-bearer achievements in market leadership, new developments and growth. He has held the position of CFO and Deputy CEO since 2003, and working alongside CEO Tim Richards and COO Steve Knibbs has helped Vue Entertainment become a world-class operator, with over 1,300 screens across 150 multiplex cinemas in 8 territories.
McNair said of his award, “Being recognised by peers and colleagues in this great industry as being worthy of an award like this is very satisfying. I have enjoyed, and continue to love, working in this fantastic business and am delighted to be receiving this award.”
Phil Clapp, Chief Executive of the Cinema Exhibitors’ Association, commented: “I am delighted that CineEurope has chosen to acknowledge Alan McNair’s outstanding contribution to cinema exhibition across the globe. While not one to seek the limelight, the cinemas that he has helped establish and develop speak for themselves as achievements of a man of singular vision and commitment. I join colleagues at UNIC and further afield in congratulating Alan on this much-deserved award.”
With over 25 years in the entertainment and leisure business, Alan has gained extensive senior management experience in a wide number of international markets, across film and video distribution and international cinema exhibition. Since joining Vue Entertainment he has, alongside CEO Tim Richards, helped steer the company through a number of significant acquisitions in the UK. He was also instrumental in the planning, financing and completion of the Vue management buyout in 2006.
