The 2019 UK Box Office has been confirmed as the highest-grossing summer of all time, beating the record set in 2018.

London, 16 September 2019 - The UK Box Office grossed £474m in the 3 May-29 August period, which is up from the £440m grossed during the same period in 2018, an increase of 8%.

Driven by a strong and diverse slate led by The Lion King, Spider-Man: Far from Home, Aladdin and Toy Story 4, the Summer months set a solid foundation for the remainder of the year and increasing the possibility that 2019 will surpass even the record-breaking bar set by 2018.

This box office momentum is expected to continue for the rest of 2019, with major releases such as Frozen II, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Cats still to come.
